Ronaldo looks set to shock the footballing world
Manchester United are bracing themselves for the worst after superstar Christiano Ronaldo agreed to join spanish giants Real Madrid.
Spanish media have assured that United figure Ronaldo will recieve a contract worth nine million Euro a year if he decides to head to Madrid.
Ronaldo, who is currently in Switzerland preparing for EURO competition, has said the possible transfer to one of football's most luxuerious clubs is coming to a climax.
Spanish reports suggest that a deal for Ronaldo has been done, and that the Portugese international will finally realise his dreams of playing for 'Los Merengue'.
United however, have found one unlikely ally to cease Ronaldo's departure.
Ronaldo's mother,Dolores Aveiro, said that her son should stay in United for the time being.
"He's going very well where he is at the moment. Only god knows the future but it is certain to me that he is going to continue playing in England." she said.
Spanish sports tabloid "Marca" and "AS" said that Ronaldo, from his camp in Neuchatel, Switzerland, confirmed his agreement with the spanish champions.
The deal looks set to break the world transfer record for a player set in 2001 when french icon Zinedine Zidane moved from Juventus to Real Madrid for a staggering 75 million Euro.
