America reveals dream team for Olympics

Kobe Bryant looks set for gold at this years Olympics


NBA superstars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James head the list for a Dream Team looking for revenge From Athens to Beijing.

The squad, which consists of no players from NBA champions Boston Celtics, is keen for a gold medal at this years Olympics.


Vengence is now in march. The Dream team still feel the pain of their collapse in Athens 2004. That is why they will come out with an arsenal of superstars ready to seize Olympic gold.

Executive director of American Basketball federation, Jerry Colangelo, gave out the twelve names to represent America. Among those were superstars Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Colangelo said all players involved in the team should shine come August.

"The 12 chosen all have incredible talent and we think they posess the necessary versatility, leadership skills and focus" Colangelo said.

USA coach Mike Krzyzewski believes the experience of Athens 4 years ago should be enough to inspire the Dream Team to glory.

"The experience from the last Olympics will definetly help the team. In Beijing we will realise an incredible tournament because we have a very talented team".

Apart from the United States, other nations competing for gold in Basketball will be reigning champions Argentina, World champion Spain and Iran, Australia, Angola, Russia, Lithuania and China.


The remaining three places will be up for grabs in a pre-olympic tournament in Athens ,which will be held between the 14th and 20th of July.

Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets), Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz), Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors), Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets), Tayshaun Prince (Detroit Pistons), Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks), Deron Williams (Utah Jazz), Jason Kidd (Dallas Mavericks), LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers), Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers) y Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat).
