The suffering is finally over as Barcelona finished their disappointing season on a high as they defeated Real Mallorca 5-3 as the club witnessed immense promise for the future.
As the Catalan giants look towards the future without superstars Ronaldinho and Deco, Mexican international Giovanni Dos Santos looks more than ideal to complement Argentine superstar Lionel Messi in attack next season.
The 19 yr old Dos Santos scored a hat-trick as he provided departing manager Frank Rikjaard with the perfect send off in another frustrating season for him personally.
New manager Josep Guardiola has now been handed the task of guiding the La Liga giants to European and Spanish glory next season.
However he will have to do it without some of the game's greatest players next season.
Brazilian maestro Ronaldinho and Portugese ace Deco have been confirmed to leave the club at seasons end. Cameroon striker Samuel Eto is also likely to leave after his worst season at the Catalan giants, which prompted many critics to lose faith and support in the Barcelona forward.
His likely destination looks likely to be in England where Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur look the real deal in terms of gaining Eto's services.
Despite all these losses in personal, Guardiola has set his sights on some world class forwards for next season's tilt.
Bayern Munich forward Luca Toni and Lyon sensation Benzema have been linked to a move to the Nou Camp next season while Sevilla's brazilian superstar Daniel Alves has reportedly finalised a deal to join the Catalan giants.
With all these superstars at the helm next season, and with young guns Dos Santos and Bojan showing immense promise, coach Guardiola can expect big things once again from a club that, at one stage, was regarded as the best footballing side in European competition.
