Barcelona looking shaky
April 20th 2008 13:04
There are now tough times at the Catalan giants.
With Brazilian meastro Ronaldinho moving on and coach Rijkaard under immense pressure to keep his job, Barcelona find themselves in the middle of a mine field reminiscent of the Vietnam War.
They have failed to conjure up any form since Messi's injury and are on the brink of conceding the Primera Liga to rival Real Madrid for the second season running.
This Morning's match up against Espanyol could've provided the Spanish giants a spark that has not been evident in a long time now.
But once again their worrying trend continues after a 0-0 stalemate against their opponents.
Barca fans are not ones that rely on pure results. They rely on beautiful, fast attacking football, the kind of football that made them the most dominat club throughout Europe.
Ronaldinho was at his prime and Rijkaard was considered one of the top three managers going around.
Since then there have been tough times and things are only going to get tougher from here on in.
This Thursday (AEST) they host red hot English champion Manchester United who is arguably on the other side of the spectrum. They are in terrific form and look set for European glory.
It Could potentially be a disaster for Barcelona at the Nou Camp but it could be the wake up call they just need.
If there is any occasion that can get a top team like Barcelona out of the conundrums, than a Champions League semi-final at home should do the trick.
With Messi and co. back from injury the stage is set for an explosive encounter of attacking football in it's prime.
Both teams are billed with an arsenal of weapons that could literally put the U.S Navy to shame.
Although Barcelona have not yet fired any shots, the moment of glory is there to be seized against United.
But they will have to end the bickering and off field distractions if they are to set the United cause for a European trophy on fire.
In the End it all comes down to attitude and Barcelona will need it in bucket loads if they are to get their campaign back running again.
