B-Easy on the kid!

It goes without saying that people have issues! It is normal for someone to ponder life and death when they go through hard times. It doesn't make it particularly easy when you are in the spotlight, and your problems become a topic for public discussion. It doesn't help that the media (including bloggers like ME) make a big deal out of what athletes do in their personal lives. Frankly, we shouldn't judge! I can't say that I am not a culprit of the being judgmental at times. But I do understand that it is important to try and help, rather than reiterate the issue at hand.
Mike Beasley is going through some things right now, and there are concerns of suicidal behavior. But we cannot assume that these issues are due to external influences. We also shouldn't decide for him whether he is sane or not. B-Easy (Mike Beasley) is only 20 years old. Don't you remember being 20? Smoking weed is ok for the public to do, but if an athlete smokes weed in his down time - we call them delinquents! Getting into altercations at a club or hotel all of a sudden makes you - a thug? It is normal for a 20 year old to experience difficulties and have slight brushes with the law. Why do we have to put so much pressure on these players? With the exception of people like the Lebron, Kobe and KG (who have great families and influences in their lives); we should not assume all young superstars will immediately comply to NBA standards. Even Charles Barkley used to say he didn't want to be a role model! These things happen with time.
Isn't the need to REBEL, the best part of being a young testosterone driven man. Mike Beasley is not crazy! He is just a young guy with too much on his plate. He played really well last season. Rehab and issues aside, the kid is TALENTED. We should support him, rather than give up on him or put him down. I'm sure he will be a productive player for many years to come. As long as people get off his back about not being 'perfect'. Let the kid grow up, the way the rest of us had the opportunity to! (This include bloggers like ME)
