Crimson Tide too strong for Hokies

The Sam Bradford injury stole the spotlight today, but I was more intrigued by the battle in the Georgia Dome. After a lucky start by the Hokies, Alabama proved the Crimson Tide is more of a force than we expected.
Alabama had a horrible start to the game. Settling for field goals twice inside the Hokies own 20. To top that off, they allowed a 98 yard kick-off return, an interception at the 14 yard line and a missed filed goal from the 36 yard line at the end of the half. Luck seemed to be on the Hokies side, seeing as the Alabama D-line were making sure Tyrod Taylor was non-existent the entire game.
After the half the Bama offense decided it was their turn to do some work. Ingram played like the superstar we expected, finishing the game with 150 yards with only 26 carries. Despite being picked off in the first half, McElroy dusted of the self pity and put in work. McElroy finished the game with 230 yards, displaying more confidence in his arm and his receivers.
Had Ryan Williams not carried the load for the Hokies offense, this game would have been extremely one-sided. Ryan had 71 yards rushing for 2 touchdowns. Ryans was also the Hokies leading receiver with 42 yards. Although most analysts had picked Alabama to win this game, I don't think anyone expected the Hokies offense to be so out of it.
Alabama were clearly the better team. Especially after the half. Both offense and defense were clicking nicely, making Bama totally unstoppable. The Hokies can not rely on Taylor to always make plays with his feet. Although Taylor is a superb athlete, he is no Mike Vick. The Hokies Coaching squad need to have more faith in his pocket play. Today the weaknesses in the offensive balance were evident. The bright spot was that Ryan Williams proved that the 'irreplaceable' Darren Evans, can actually be replaced. Unfortunately for the Hokies, Bama came to play!
