IPL the start of new order in Cricket

This weekend the Indian Premier League will start amid all the controversy that has been bestowed upon it.
Many have Critised this new inception into the Cricket world, with claims that the competition will hinder any credibility the sport has left in terms of patience and skill in terms of batting and bowling.
Personally however, I see the IPL as a terrific investment in Cricket’s global market which is played and watched by over three billion people in the world.
Fans of the sport last year witnessed a fantastic 20/20 world cup that thrilled all who watched it due to the emotion and passion that was displayed by all players involved.
Some of the most memorable moments in cricket surfaced during the tournament in South Africa, none more special than Yuvraj Singh’s 6 sixes in one over against England.
All in all the 20/20 format has inspired all to play more cricket.
Let’s face it, this is a fast paced world and all individuals throughout the globe really thrive on fast paced action.
The most popular sports in the world such as rugby and soccer place the speed of the game as the backbone to their success and popularity.
Many kids strive to run as fast as Cristiano Ronaldo or Leo Messi. Kids dream of having the step and agility of Benji Marshall and Matt Bowen. Kids dream to hit the ball as far as Andrew Symonds or Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Why are these individuals so famous in their respective sports?
It all comes down to the pace of the actions these players play their sports. They have grown into characters that excite all who watch them perform due to their ability to destroy opposition defences at a pace that leaves everyone in awe.
In terms of the IPL Dhoni and Symonds have a lot to live up to if they are to match their respective price tags.
The two most expensive players auctioned in the IPL, Dhoni and Symonds are seen by many as the major forces to steer 20/20 cricket into the limelight.
If both are successful, many more people will start to embrace the game and Cricket in the end will benefit immensely in terms of marketable opportunities.
Whatever the future holds for Cricket, the IPL will indeed represent a new era for one of the most traditional sports played on our planet.
Strap yourself in Cricket fans all the action begins this Saturday night.
The games will be broadcast on Channel Ten and Ten HD. Enjoy.
