September 10th 2008 23:09
AC Milan midfielder Kaka predicts Lionel Messi to be his grand candidate to win the ' Balon de Or'.
As we approach the climax of 2008, world football now open's its lips in anticipation for the candidates to win some of football's most prestigious individual awards.
"Messi is an authentic choice for me," Kaka says. "Cristiano Ronaldo has been great as well and deserves the prize, but I think Leo should be my successor."
Although Kaka feels out of the running for any individual accolades due to Milan's failure to qualify for the Champions League, the Brazilian still hopes to gain enough form to steal the prize.
"My objective is to recuperate my form in order to retain what I achieved in Paris and Zurich last year," Kaka said.
"But for that to happen, I need to play my best for Milan."
Meanwhile, Kaka also shared an opinion of the most talked about transfer in the Italian Serie A this season: Ronaldinho.
"Without any doubt he is the best transfer in the Italian Serie A," Kaka says.
"Although our opinion of living may differ greatly, that does not mean we can not be friends. I'm sure we will play well together."
In regards to his playing future in Milan, amid speculation he could be leaving, Kaka made things clear.
"First it was Madrid, and now English football has reared its head for me,” Kaka says. "This is the football market nowadays but I can confirm that I do not hold any thoughts of leaving Milan.
"Unless the club undergoes massive renovations and wants to get rid of me, I am more than happy to stay here."
