Keeper League or Not?

April 12th 2010 20:13
Keeper/Dynasty Leagues Have a Lot to Offer

Keeper leagues are a heck of lot of fun. I've played leagues with the added feature of keeping a core of players from season to season, and I've moonlighted in leagues without it. I like the added challenge of deciding who's gonna be great next season, and the ability it gives me to build a core of talent that keeps me competitive year to year.

And it makes you look really smart when you draft the right rookies. Chris Johnson, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson...

There's a different feel in keep leagues. You play with the same guys year after year; your "team" is really yours. Players on your team become a part of your fantasy identity, and there's no such thing as an autodraft. Autodraft is a dirty word, in my book. When I had to be a part of one last year, it felt like I was committing a sin.

If you've only ever played yahoo fantasy, or another of the keep-it-light-and-social leagues, check out a dynasty or keeper league this year. Get serious about your fantasy. You'll be happy you did.

My favorite is MyFantasyLeague.com, but there are lots of others.
