Kuranyi abandon's Germany battle against Russia

A German football player has deserted his international teammates after escaping at halftime and not returning without reason.
Schalke 04 forward Kevin Kuranyi was on the bench during Germany's match against Russia and took it upon himself to make a statement of some sort by abandoning his duties as a player by leaving the squad at the interval of the game.
German coach Joachim Löw has announced the expulsion of Kuranyi from the Germany squad and will not play for his home nation unless he confronts his team and offers a valid reason for his unexpected departure.
"Staying on the bench can be frustrating, I can understand his deception," Low says. "But his reaction is both unacceptable and uncompromisable.
"I am shocked, we are all shocked."
Kuranyi's manager meanwhile hopes there is a significant reason for his player's departure, but he too thinks he could have acted more diplomatic.
"I hope his decision to leave was a correct one. But I still think he could have offered a small explanation."
Prior to his surprise departure, Kuranyi was not even listed in the Germany 18 man preliminary squad for the game against Russia.
He was forced to sit on the sidelines while Michael Ballack and Lukas Podolski celebrated their goals.

Its still a surprise though. Something must have gone terribly wrong for him. What could he hate about sitting on a bench and still get paid thousands to do it.
