Manchester City chase Milito
July 12th 2008 00:27
English Premier League club Manchester City has shown a keen interest to snare Argentine forward Diego Milito from demoted spanish club Real Zaragoza.
General manager of City, Mark Hughes, will hold talks with Zaragoza to organise a possible transfer or loan deal for the forward.
Zaragoza will not contemplate the decision to sell Milito, with the asking price for the Argentine approximately 18 million euro.
It is not the first time Milito has been linked with City. The english club offered the Zaragoza forward 15 million euro for his signature last December.
But Zaragoza declined the offer because the spanish club wanted 20 million euro for Milito's departure.
However, with Zaragoza's demotion to the second tier of spanish football, Milito has been keen for a move elsewhere with Serie A club Napoli offering 12 million euro for the Argentine's services.
Fellow Premier League club Everton have also expressed interest in signing the Zaragoza forward for next season.
Milito, who is in Buenos Aires for personal reasons, will link back with the spanish club as soon as possible to begin pre-season training and hold talks about his future with Real Zaragoza.
The Argentine forward is currently club captain at Zaragoza, taking over the role from brother Gabriel who departed for Barcelona in 2007.
