From Mar Del Plata, current Argentina football coach Diego Maradona says he will remain manager of 'la Seleccion' despite off field turmoil with AFA president Julio Grondona.
Maradona stopped by in Polideportivo to visit Argentina's Davis Cup team. He was followed by the media who were eager to seek answers over Maradona's future as manager of Argentina's football team.
The national footballing icon replied, "I am here for the players".
He is not going anywhere. Despite the uproar surrounding the unrest between Grondona and Maradona in regards to the inclusion of Ruggeri in his coaching squad, Diego visited the Davis Cup team and left with one sentence.
"I will remain manager", he said.
Maradona, who was with Carlos Bilardo at the time, greeted Tennis players David Nalbandian, Agustin Calleri and Jose Acasuso.
However, their meeting was to be disturbed by media desperately in search of Maradona's views. Will he or won't he were the main questions asked over and over again.
After all, Maradona was yet to give his view in regards to his battered relationship with Grondona. Many said he would quit without asking the man himself.
Grondona made it clear that he does not want Ruggeri in Maradona's coaching staff, media around the world were speculating that Maradona would retire after a mere month in charge of Argentina's football team.
Although Maradona expressed that he was hurt by Grondona's stance on things, this has not damaged his passion to continue on coaching his beloved Argentina to South Africa 2010.
