Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has confirmed he will take part in the Olympic games in Beijing later this year.
The Barcelona forward has been tangled in speculation that the Spanish club was reluctant to release him and has told argentine media that his presence in Beijing will not be under threat.
" I don't know how i will resolve this situation but i will be there". Messi said.
Messi's olympic coach " Checho" Batista, will start his preparations with his squad full of expectation and with a team full of stars. "The Flea" as Messi is known to his team mates will arguably be the principal attraction on and off the field.
Messi arrived at the Hesperia Tower hotel in Catalunia this afternoon in a complexion of pure relaxsation. After signing autographs for the Barcelona faithful, the little Argentine took some time out to watch the Champions League final with the rest of his teammates.
Aware of the media presence outside of the building, Messi took this opportunity to make a few things clear about his devotion to the argentine shirt.
"I am going to the Olympics no questions asked" was Messi's first statement, filled with authority and determination that arguably put any doubt among those questioning his presence for the Olympics on notice.
" The truth is that there are certain things that i have to fix but there is no doubt that i will be playing in Beijing".
While he quashed all uncertainty with his timid voice and sense of humour, Messi joined his Argentine teammates upstairs once again to enjoy the rest of Champions league final, where his Argentine counterpart Carlos Tevez was playing for United against Chelsea.
When asked about Barcelona's difficult season gone past, he said " That cycle is now over and the renovation is about to begin".
The runner up of the FIFA World player of the year award then let fly at Argentina's chances at Beijing in August later this year.
"I have alot of expectations playing with this squad. I'm really happy because i get to meet Aguero tomorrow and i'm really looking forward to playing with him" Leo confesses.
Argentina will play Catalunia this Saturday afternoon and the team will have it's first training session tomorrow. The likes of Banega and Aguero will arrive from their respective clubs full of optimisim for the task that's ahead.
Meanwhile, Messi and the rest of the squad will simply chill out in their hotel rooms, with three plasma screens and superb air conditioning.
This is the life of an argentine squad that looks set to sweep all before them at this years Olympic games.
