Messi in Chelsea's sights
April 17th 2008 23:59
Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been linked to a move to English Premier League giants Chelsea.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is believed to be prepared to spend 125 Million Euros to strengthen the English superpower, and that involves securing one of football's hottest talents.
The Russian billionaire has also set his sights on FIFA World player and Ballon De Or winner Kaka and Atletico Madrid star Sergio Aguero.
Abramovich has conceded though that Kaka would be impossible to get due to his recent agreement to stay with Italian giant AC Milan for 5 years.
However, Abramovich said he is quietly confident on snaring Messi's signature, with the Argentine international the prime obsession of Chelsea's plans to build for the future.
"We have been working for the future at this club for quite some time" he said.
Chelsea Manager Avra Grant also said that Chelsea are in a position of strength to secure Messi's services.
" We have the advantage that no other club has a strong, agile economic system like ours".
Further plans regarding Messi's future will be known in the next couple of weeks.
