Messi's mind firmly on Olympics

Argentine ace Lionel Messi has assured his participation at this years Olympics after undergoing medical examination to fly safely to Japan and meet up with his team mates.
Despite Barcelona insisting he stay at the Nou Camp for pre-season training, Messi has been obsessed with playing in the Olympics, undergoing a vaccination for Hepatitis B and other illnesses to keep him in peek condition for Argentina's Olympic assault.
Barcelona are still eager for Messi to miss the Beijing Olympics due to the club's important pre-season schedule, which includes crucial matches en route to qualify for next season's Champions League.
However, it is unlikely the Argentine star will meet up with the spanish giants after confessing his deep desire to be apart of his countries defence of the Gold medal achieved in Athens.
In Barcelona's defence, the Olympics do not form part of FIFA's offical competitions and can argue Messi's unavailability for the pre-season.
Technical Secretary of Barcelona, Begiristain said the club would stand firm and do what is necessary to keep Messi in Spain.
"We are still convinced we are right. There is talk about the spirit of the Olympics but there is also the spirit of the Champions League".
