Milan claim Inter scalp
September 28th 2008 23:49
Brazilian midfielder Ronaldinho could have played himself back into form after scoring the only goal in AC Milan's 1-0 win over arch rivals Inter.
Ronaldinho scored the winner in the 36th minute of the match with a splendid header. Fellow Brazil teammates Kaka and Pato rejoiced with the two time world player of the year.
In a contest full of spite, Inter had both Marco Matarezzi and Nicolas Burdisso sent off as Inter failed to find any flow in their football against Milan.
After a shocking start to the year however, Milan have won four straight matches and now look on course to mount a serious challenge for the Serie A title this season.
Inter on the other hand failed to capitalise on a golden opportunity to send themselves clear on top of the Serie A after starting the week one point ahead from second placed Lazio.
But after Inter's loss, Lazio are now the new leaders of the competition after they beat Torino 3-1 courtesy of a great showing from Argentine striker Mauro Zarate, who scored two goals.
Inter remain on ten points while Lazio are now on twelve.
