Nadal reigning supreme on Clay

April 28th 2008 22:21
Nadal looks set to dominate the French Open once again

The man with the biggest shoulders in world tennis continues to destroy all those that challenge him on the circuits hardest surface.

Only a distinct few have achieved in their lifetime what Nadal has achieved in five years on Clay alone.

Sunday nights victory over Roger Federer in the Monte Carlo Masters once again typified the gap in playing ability, let alone strength, that Nadal currently posseses over his opponents.

Nadal's win against the world No.1 allowed the young spaniard to claim his fourth Monte Carlo Masters Series title in as many years.

With this win under his belt, few will now question Nadal's ability to perform on the most demanding surface that tennis has to offer.

For the fourth year running he will once again be favourite to take out this years French Open crown in Roland Garros.

Such is his dominance on clay at the moment, Nadal seemingly has no rivals what so ever.

Although the likes of Federer, Djokovic and Davydenko will have plenty to say come May, it is unlikely that they will unsettle the greatest claycourter of all time.

Nadal has won 21 consecutive matches at Roland Garros hence his three consecutive grand slams over in France.

His endurance is one that is not easily matched and this looks like serving Nadal well once again.

In comparisions to Roger Federer, Nadal is yet to reach the dizzying heights that this man has accomplished.

Federer is the most complete player on the planet and it once again seems an inevitability that he will come away with another grand slam title this year.

He is only three away from equalling Pete Sampras record of 14 grand slams. That alone should inspire the Swiss maestro to propel himself into tennis folklore forever.

Although Nadal seems to hold a mortgage on the French Open, the same can be said when we discuss Federer's dominance at Wimbledon.

He has won an amazing five consecutive titles in Tennis's most prestigious tourament. He dominates Wimbledon like Bradgelina dominate Hollywood.

With three grand slams remaining this year, do not be surprised to see another Federer- Nadal showdown to determine which will take home yet another grand step to tennis immortality.
