Is 43 pts that big of deal?

Is it me or does 43 points not seem like much of a task anymore? I have seen so many 40 point performances in the past 10 years, I have essentially become desensitized to them . It's great to see that the game is slowly getting back to the high scoring NBA it once was. But essentially it takes the excitement out of a dominant performance.
I am not trying to say it's easy to score points 40 points. Scoring that many points in the NBA, is harder than trying to find a women in West Hollywood. There is much less emphasis put on good defense these days. Plus the standard of talent in the league is overwhelming. Basically unless you can fly like Superman, or have the height and athleticism of Sudanese teen on steroids - you better have a crossover to shake the earth, or a jump shot as accurate as Cupid!
Regardless of how the game has changed, I still love watching. Seeing Al Jefferson fight hard to pull down a record setting 26 Rebs in Houston, only to have his spirit crushed by Aaron Brooks (43 points - career high) - is why I still pay the cable bill!
