Olympics sold out
July 28th 2008 20:55
All tickets to the Olympic Games in Beijing this August have been officially sold.
The International Olympic Committee announced the news after thousands of supporters formed large cues to obtain any tickets remaining in the biggest sporting event of the year.
The opening ceremony will take place on August 8 while the football competition begins a day earlier.
There were approximately 250,000 tickets remaining for the Olympics but they have all been chewed up, the IOC confirmed last night.
Organisers have shown a great deal of gratitude to all supporters. They have praised the enthusiasm of many people who waited long hours to obtain entries into this year’s Olympics.
Beijing officials are believed to be pleased with the sell-out, after earlier dealing with the controversy surrounding the Chinese capital's pollution levels.
Many athletes, at some stage or another, considered withdrawing from the Olympics due to health reasons, mainly regarding Asthma.
But with all problems solved, the Beijing Olympics will host an opening ceremony that will no doubt captivate all who take part.
The Ceremony itself will start the avalanche of competition that will see some of the world’s greatest athlete’s fight for Olympic gold.
