Lewis Hamilton addressed 1,800 McLaren workers at the firm's headquarters responsible for not only building his car but helping him shape a future now filled with success and greens.

Indeed Hamilton gestured at the silverware and said: "All of these trophies are your hard work.

We've won together, we've lost together and now we are world champions."

Those comments from the new world Formula One world champion were followed with applause, not to mention the whoops and cheers, from all those involved in making Hamilton the youngest world champ in racing history.

When the excitement in the audience subsided, Hamilton then gave out a solemn vow.

"I love this team," Hamilton added. "I'm going nowhere."

"I'm with the team I've always dreamt of driving for, and I've got the car I always wanted - so why change?.

"I don't know how long I'll be in F1 - but I want to see my career out with this team, and that's my plan."

Maybe Hamilton wants to stay due to the solemn support cast by his team.

Just days after clinching the championship in Brazil, Hamilton entered McLaren's building with a smile and a wave. "Morning everyone," he said, as if commencing a standard day at the office.

People who have been working double shifts for weeks laid down their tools and computer mice to applaud Hamilton and his success.

Since the dramatic conclusion to the Brazilian Grand Prix, Hamilton has been revelling in his own happiness and that which he has brought to others.

He recalled a moment at the post-race party in Sao Paulo when he sat quietly in a corner watching others celebrate his success.

"It makes me happy to make other people happy," he said. "Just looking at all the people at the party singing 'We Are the Champions'... it was so good. I'm like a sponge for positive energy."

The team's boss, Ron Dennis, who spotted Hamilton's talent and self-belief when the racer was just a boy, usually comes across as a serious, even humourless figure.

But as he listened to his greatest discovery address the rest of his employees, he cracked more smiles than ever.

"We have had some great drivers at this team," Dennis said later. "But this is Lewis's world championship. This is his day."

Indeed it was Hamilton's day. Despite grasping the formula one championship from the clutches of Brazilian driver Felippe Massa, thus sending his team into raptures, the Briton celebrated his victory with cuddles from girlfriend and Pussycat Dolls siren Nicole Scherzinger.

If Hamilton needs any more motivation to seek Michael Schumacher’s world record seven championship titles, having one of the most lusted women on the planet by your side on race day surely gets you in the mood to achieve anything.

After becoming the youngest world champion ever, Hamilton has already achieved history. There will be more to follow.

For Formula One pilot Felipe Massa, it will be the most important race of his career. The Brazilian is currently second overall in the championship race behind Englishman Lewis Hamilton, but Massa believes he will have his chance to emerge victorious when he races in the Grand Prix this Sunday in his native Brazil.

The Interlago circuit seems to be the defining destination for Massa and his championship aspirations.

Not only will he be racing in front of his home fans but he can also grasp the championship title away from Hamilton and crown himself the world's best Formula One driver for 2008.

"The Grand Prix in Brazil has always been a massive moment for me, now more than ever because now, I will be fighting for the title," he says.

"I have to give it my all and go for victory no matter what."

Give it his all he must because the driver standing in front of Massa for a championship crown is Lewis Hamilton, who has been leading for most of the season. The Brit would need to have a below par race if the Brazilian is to emerge with all the glory.

Massa has to win the Brazilian Grand Prix and also must rely on Hamilton finishing sixth or lower to crown himself champion.

"If everything goes well, I well realise a dream I have had since I was a little boy," says Massa. "But if I do not go away with the championship, I will give it my all next year."

Indeed if Massa does emerge victorious in his native Brazil, the Ferrari driver will stop using the same underwear for every Grand Prix race next season.

"But they have six victories and fourteen pole positions, but yeah, it is time for me to give them a wash.”

Jamaican lightning strikes in Zurich

Bolting along nicely - Usain just keeps producing

Usain Bolt has once again demonstrated why he is the fastest man on the planet.

The Jamaican superstar, who won three gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, defeated his opponents in the 100 metre race in the Union of Athleticism in Zurich Switzerland, during the fifth stage of the Golden League.

Once again, the 22 year old did not force his talents.

After starting well in his race, Bolt marked his territory of dominance after 50 metres and as per usual, made it look so easy during the last 20 metres of the race. By then, Bolt knew this one was in the bag.

Despite the laidback finish, Bolt was just 14 milliseconds away from the world record he set in Beijing which was 9.69 secs.

No doubt Bolt has had a year to remember. The Jamaican flyer broke three world records at the Olympics, claiming the 200 metre title in 19.30 seconds.

He then joined forces with former world record holder Asafa Powell to stir the Jamaicans to a world record win in the 4/100 metre relay, winning the race in 37.10 seconds.

After the performance in Beijing, Bolt and Jamaica respectively are the new rulers of the track - a mantle formerly held by the United States, albeit with much controversy due to their involvement with performance enhancing drugs.

One feels though that Bolt and company are all natural.
