Michael Phelps has become a money making machine.
The record breaking swimmer will receive checks of $100 million dollars for the majority of his career through sponsorships.
Prestigious magazine 'Sports illustrated' have paid big bucks to have exclusive photos of Phelps with his eight gold medals received in Beijing.
Phelps will pocket $75,000 dollars for standing in front of a camera.
After his sensational performance at the Beijing Olympics, United States swimmer Phelps has become the main attraction for a lot of companies who wish to utilise the American as the image of an enormous range of products.
That is why one can confirm that Phelps is set for life. His record breaking feats at the water cube in Beijing will allow the American swimmer to seep in cash rivalling sports icons such as David Beckham and Tiger Woods.
Phelps' performances in Beijing have changed the face of swimming forever. After receiving six gold medals and two bronze in Athens four years ago, the American was pocketing annual payments of five million dollars courtesy of his contract alone.
Now, the likes of Power Bar, Pure Sport Drinks, Visa, and Speedo are calling for the man that broke Mark Spitz's world record mark of seven gold medals achieved at the Munich Olympics in 1972.
If Phelps keeps producing in the pool, he has the potential to break records outside of it.
