Real Madrid edge closer to Barcelona

Real Madrid are not giving up on this years La Liga title after they thrashed Real Betis 6-1 at the Bernabeu this morning.
Madrid have now closed the gap between them and rivals Barcelona, after the Catalan giants lost to rivals Espanyol.
Barcelona's defeat now puts Madrid just seven points behind their great rivals and maintains the illusion of a third consecutive Spanish Primera title.
On form, Madrid are certainly the better team at the moment. Their 6-1 rout of Betis showed this.
From the start, Madrid played high quality football to totally outclass their opponents. Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain was the first to score for 'Los Merengue'.
Dutch midfielder Huntelaar, then scored two goals in the 15th and 24th minute of the first half to effectively seal the result for Madrid.
Betis forward Ricardo Oliveira however pulled one back for the away side with a neat finish.
As tension started building for Madrid, their greatest goalscorer, Raul, came to the fore with two goals from inside the area to send the faithful into raptures.
Spanish defender Sergio Ramos then put the icing on the cake for Madrid, to seal a 6-1 demolition of Betis.
With Madrid now hitting their best form, rivals Barcelona are starting to feel on edge, after suffering a 2-1 loss to Espanyol at home.
Ivan de la Pena was the hero for Espanyol, as he scored both of his team's goals to see it notch a famous victory against their cross town rivals.
