Ronaldinho closes in on Manchester City

July 14th 2008 20:57
Time is money - Ronaldinho looks set to play in England

English club Manchester City are now favourites to snare former World Player of the year Ronaldinho from Barcelona.

Brazilian superstar Ronaldinho will begin talks with Barcelona to negotiate his move away from the Nou Camp next season.

It is believed English Premier League club Manchester City have firmed in the race to win his signature after reportedly offering the Barcelona player 32 million euro for his transfer.

Ronaldinho, who was not present in pre-season training with the Catalan giants, will arrive at the club in the next few days to discuss his departure from a Barcelona side going through a mass clean-out in terms of player exodus.

For now, the only team that has shown a genuine interest for the former world player of the year is Manchester City.

Italian giants AC Milan have also been keen for his signature but are yet to put a formal offer on the table for the Brazilian midfielder.

Ronaldinho, who has made himself available for this year's Olympics, is eager to negotiate a transfer away from Barcelona, who have barred the player from any participation at the Beijing games this August.

The Brazilan playmaker is believed to have already held talks with City in order to ensure his presence at the Olympics.

No doubt City have now firmed as the clear favourites for a player experiencing the worst form of his career since 2003.

Meanwhile, English champions Manchester United are willing to pay 55 million euro for Argentine forward Sergio Aguero.

The Atletico Madrid star has been linked with a move to Old Trafford due to the impeding departure of Portugese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from the English giants.

Aguero, who earlier knocked backed a large offer to join Chelsea, is now in preperation for the Beijing games where he will look to defend the Gold medal Argentina achieved in Athens 2004.

The Argentine forward has 4 years left on his contract with Madrid.
