Manu Ginobili celebrates victory with Tony Parker
The reigning champions of the NBA defeated the Phoenix Suns in the fifth match of their tie by 92-87,in doing so qualifying for the semi-finals of the Western conference.
The Spurs will now play the New Orlean Hornets after they eliminated the Dallas Mavericks by 99-94 in their playoff for a semi-final birth.
Tony Parker,husband of actress Eva Longoria, was the top scorer for San Antonio with 31 points and eight assists in 41 minutes of game time.
Fellow Western conference outfit, The Housten Rockets, had a comfortable victory over Utah Jazz by 95-69 after needing the win to stay in the playoffs. The Rockets now trail Utah 2-3 and keep their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals alive.
Meanwhile, the Eastern conference playoffs saw a victory for the Detroit Pistons after imposing themselves well for a 98-81 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. They now lead the series 3-2.
