Spain not looking for excuses in Argentina

Spain's Davis Cup captain is not looking for excuses. Emilio Sanchez says his team is trying to 'accustomise' itself to the surface of the Polideportivo of Mar Del Plata. "The carpet is in good shape for both teams," he says.
They know they face a stiff challenge, and they do not deny it. But Spain's Davis Cup team are confident in winning the Davis Cup, despite being without Rafael Nadal, being the visitors and the potential of the Argentine team at home.
In a press conference in Mar Del Plata, Spain captain Sanchez was reluctant to find reasons about Argentina's surface that could derail Spain's chances of clinching the Davis Cup.
"The surface is what it is. Its the same for both teams, he says. "We have to try to accustomise ourselves in the best possible manner if we are going to win."
Although David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez firm as the grand candidates to play singles for Spain, Sanchez refused to nail the final nail in the coffin regarding their selection, saying both of them could be used elsewhere.
"Its clear to me that everyone in this team are giving their all for selection, he says. "After I tell the players who will be playing, I will then pass on the message to the media."
The best player in Spain's line-up, David Ferrer (world no.12), says he is "feeling great and motivated," despite experiencing a difficult second half this year, which saw lean results.
"These are just form lapses that every player goes through and every competition is different, he says. "After Wimbledon this year, nothing turned out the way I hoped for but it's not like a lost every match I played in."
Spain's most likely second singles player, Feliciano Lopez says he has no preference in regards to whether he should play against David Nalbandian or Juan Martin Del Potro.
"They are both terrific players. David is a player with immense talent while Del Potro has played well in a lot of tournaments this year."
In regards to the fans in Argentina, Lopez says "they are behaving very well, for now anyway. I imagine though that the Argentine public will be hard, come game time and they will let us know that we are the away side."
