Swiss maestro still with all the skills

World no.2 Roger Federer was too hot to handle for young Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro, the US Open champion defeating him in straight sets 6-3 6-3.
With all the goals that Del Potro dreams of achieving in his flourishing career, beating Federer will take a little longer than expected.
Del Potro could do very little against the Swiss maestro, who was displaying his A game against an opponent who has really come of age this year.
But Federer is still Federer and his aura of dominance over men's Tennis continues to plague even the most promising of challengers at the Madrid Masters.
Like a man with a clear motive, Federer attacked at will against Del Potro and the 20 year old Argentine could do little in the end to combat the Swiss' style.
With this victory, Federer continues on his path, seeking world no.1 redemption after losing it to Spaniard Rafael Nadal after over 200 weeks on top.
Indeed if Federer wins the Madrid Masters, the world no.2 could take regain the no.1 crown if the Spaniard loses in the next round.
As for Del Potro, 2008 has been a dream year for the Argentine. He became the first player of the open era to win his first four titles in succession, allowing him to make giants strides in the game.
He now sits at no.9 in the world and is still a great hope of qualifying for the Shanghai Masters at the climax of the Tennis season.
But even Del Potro must resign to the fact that not all dreams can be jumped over quickly. He still has plenty to learn playing against some of the best in history, let alone the world.
