Argentina have scrapped home with a draw in their World Cup qualifier against ladder leaders Paraguay.
Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez was sent off and will not play in Argentina's match against Peru in two days time.
The two time World Cup winners were held 1-1 at home after dominating for much of the contest.
But it was Paraguay who went ahead courtesy of an own-goal from Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze early in the second half.
But great lead up play from Lionel Messi and Juan Roman Riquelme allowed Atletico Madrid striker, Kun Aguero to slot home the equaliser.
In wet and chilly conditions, the Argentines pressured late on but Paraguay held firm for a valuable point which keeps them on top of the World Cup qualifying ladder in South America.
In other results, Peru notched up their first win of their qualifying campaign with a valuable victory over Venezuela.
Peru player Piero Alva scored the only goal of the game to grant the Peruvians the three points in Lima.
They will now look forward to their match against Argentina with plenty of confidence. Their win knocks them off the bottom of the ladder - a position that is now occupied by Bolivia.
Uruguay made history by beating Colombia away from home in their World Cup qualifier.
A goal from Eguren was enough to grant Uruguay a vital win, which places them in third position on the ladder, behind both Paraguay and Argentina.
And last but not least, Ecuador beat Bolivia 3-1 in Quito to consolidate their good form heading to a possible birth in South Africa in 2010.
Goals from Caicedo, Méndez, and Bottero handed Ecuador the win against the hapless Bolivians, who now sit last in South American World Cup qualifying.
Bolivia's loss comes after they upset ladder leaders Paraguay some seven weeks ago by 4-2.
Chile will host Brazil in the last remaining match of the seventh phase of World Cup qualifying in South America.
