Thierry Henry on Messi and being manager

July 11th 2008 01:49
Henry never seems short on style

Superstar French footballer Thierry Henry assured 'La Seleccion' is the best team in the world after arriving in Argentina yesterday to promote the new range of Reebok boots.

The Barcelona forward praised Argentina's style of play and the current roster it has at its disposal.

"They play hard football, with great touches and with incredible players." Henry said.

The Frenchmen was also quick to stamp his opinion on fellow Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi, who he predicts will win the Balon De Or.

"He (Messi) does things with the ball i haven't seen done by any other player, i hope he wins the Balon De Or."

"For me he is the best in the world inside the pitch and takes away his rivals with alot of tranquility. He really is incredible."

"But after a game, he is just a normal kid, simple and timid who loves playing videos games like everyone else".

Henry's comments come after just one season playing at the Nou Camp after leaving Premier League giants Arsenal. A club in which the frenchmen made his true mark in world football.

After a disappointing EURO campaign, Henry was eager to unwind and admits he stays in touch with the local Argentine league which holds one of football's most famous clubs in Boca Juniors.

"I always watch the Superclasico and my team is Boca. Argentina has the best team in the world. I always ask myself why they have not won more trophies if they have it all. They can win everything."

"At times for those things to happen, luck needs to help out and in the World Cup, Argentina did not have it".

Despite suffering a lean season in his first year at Barcelona, Henry remains confident that Messi and co. can lead the spanish giants to further glory.

"Leo can be a leader, with the game he posesses he is, but i think putting too much pressure on him would be wrong."

"There is still alot of experience in the side with Xavi, Puyol and Milito. There is no need to rush him yet."

Although Barcelona will approach the new year without Portugese star Deco, and the impeding departure of both Ronaldinho and Et'o, Henry is optomistic about the club's chances next season.

" We will be up there no doubt. Training with Messi everyday of the week never seizes to bring a smile on my face." he said.

As for the future, Henry is eager to stay involved within the footballing world. Whether his involvement goes as far as being manager remains to be seen.

"Even now i do not know, its likely no doubt but i try to enjoy things day by day."

"My idea is to keep playing a few more years and then make a decision. Maybe i could be a manager but i know for sure that i will stay in touch with football."
