United in conflict with Real Madrid over Ronaldo fiasco

English champions Manchester United have presented a formal complaint to FIFA after superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly agreed to sign for Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Despite having four years left in his United contract, Ronaldo has made it clear that he intends to play for the Spanish champions as early as next season.
United, who are desperate to keep the Portugese international, felt they had no choice but to send the complaint to FIFA who will start investigations as soon as possible.
"We have no alternative but to present a formal complaint to the maximum authority in world football, something that has been done now".
The 'Red Devils', who were crowned European champions, made it clear on the 27th of May that the club would take action on Madrid if the Spanish club continued to pursue Ronaldo.
Last week, Ronaldo publicly told his agent that his desire was to play for 'los Merengue' next season. United have appealed to the World governing body of football and will wait for a decison over the coming weeks.
Ronaldo, who is participating in EURO competiton for Portugal, said it has always been a desire of his to play for Real Madrid and a dream that he would love to realise.
No doubt that if Ronaldo signs with 'Los Merengue', the deal will most probably break the world transfer record held by footballing icon Zinedine Zidane. His transfer from Juventus yielded 75 million euros for the Frenchmen.
Ronaldo's reported fee, if he moved to Madrid, would earn him around nine million euro a year in a contract that would run until 2013.
